From downtown Luray it's 10 minutes to the Thornton Gap entrance of Shenandoah National Park and the heart of the Central District: Skyland, Big Meadows, Dark Hollow Falls, and Old Rag. Luray Caverns is the most-visited cave system in the eastern US, and the Singing Tower carillon plays free concerts on summer afternoons. Downtown is small but the food has gotten significantly better in the last few years.
