Nestled in the beautiful Appalachian foothills of the Shenandoah Valley, Camp Shenandoah spans 456 acres and serves as a year-round Scout Reservation. This historic camp, which opened at its current location in 1950, is owned and operated by the Virginia Headwaters Council, Scouting America. For decades, thousands of Scouts have passed through its gates, engaging in a variety of programs designed to foster skills, fellowship, and outdoor adventure. The camp's rich history dates back to an original location at Island Ford in the early 1900s, moving to its present site in Augusta County to accommodate growing needs and expanded programming. Camp Shenandoah offers diverse resident camp experiences, including specific programs for Scouts BSA, Webelos/Arrow of Light, and Cub Scouts. These camps focus on merit badges, Scoutcraft, handicraft, aquatics, nature studies, STEM, and shooting sports. Adventurous Scouts can embark on hikes to Elliott Knob or participate in a high adventure program. The camp also supports new Scouts through its Timber Mountain program, designed to expedite progress towards First Class Scout. Beyond summer camps, the facility is available for year-round unit camping, family camping, and facility rental, offering access to hiking trails and opportunities for special events. Additionally, the Wallenborn Conservation Reserve, an adjacent 150-acre property acquired in 1999, is dedicated to wildlife habitat and ecological studies, further enriching the camp's natural environment.
