Blue Shepherd Spirits welcomes you to experience small-batch, artisan spirits crafted in-house using local grains and goods. This nano distillery was founded by Alex, a veteran and firefighter/paramedic, along with his wife Sarah, a first responder, nurse, and small business owner. The business is named after their beloved Blue German Shepherd, Bruce, who, despite some behavioral challenges preventing him from greeting guests in person, is celebrated throughout the distillery with numerous pictures. The tasting room offers a unique experience, allowing you to sample their spirits and cocktails. The owners encourage appointments, especially during their infancy, due to Alex's ongoing full-time work as a firefighter/paramedic. Blue Shepherd Spirits is dedicated to revitalizing the local atmosphere of Luray, Virginia, operating out of a building that once housed Tutt's Autos, an old-school speed shop. The space boasts tall ceilings and beautiful mountain views, with future potential for an outdoor area where kids can play. The distillery officially opened its doors to the public on August 26, 2022.
