Music in the Park: Stonewall Brigade Band

A Legacy Since 1855 As the longest continuous community band in the country, we stand as a living testament to the enduring power of music. Established in 1855, our heritage is woven into the very fabric of our community, honoring a tradition of excellence and dedication that spans over 170 years. We are more than just performers; we are a collective of history, bringing the joy of brass music to generations of residents while preserving the rich legacy of our past. To read about our history, click here The Stonewall Brigade Band (SBB) is the oldest continuous community-supported band among over 2,000 community bands in the nation. Initially formed as a brass band, the SBB is a full concert ensemble that includes brass, woodwinds, percussion and even the occasional string instrument! Members range in age from early teens to north of 90 years old! Members come from many different backgrounds, including (but not limited to!) auto mechanics, teachers, students, lawyers, landscapers, healthcare professionals, and accountants. Most of our members live in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County; others come from elsewhere in the Shenandoah Valley. Our Summer Concert Series The Stonewall
